Language delay (Pediatric): Language refers to what is understood (receptive) and what is produced (expressive). Strong receptive language skills help an individual follow simple to complex directions and follow stories. Expressive language skills are required for that individual to put words together in grammatically correct utterances in order to coherently tell stories or communicate complex thoughts.
